New England Deer Hunting: Early Season Bowhunting Insights

Season Highlights: Sea Bucks Hunting Adventures

During the early hunting season, the Sea Bucks crew is always on the lookout for the best opportunities. Unfortunately, unpredictable weather often limits their chances. In New Hampshire, deer movement tends to slow down, necessitating scouting efforts. Meanwhile, the Coastal Maine hunters benefit from warmer weather, allowing them to enjoy a few days hunting over a thriving clover plot.

Day 1: Family Fun Over Hunting

On September 28, the temperatures soar, prompting the New Hampshire Sea Bucks crew to take a break from hunting for a fun family outing.

Day 2: Scouting Adventures

The following day, Joy and Roberge head afield to check their trail cameras. They also scout a nearby mountain, discover a prime hunting location, and set up a new cell camera to track deer movement.

Archery Opener in Maine

Fast forward to October 5, where the Coastal Maine crew prepares for Maine’s mainland archery opener. Josh Leach heads to a food plot where he tagged his first deer back in 2005.

Captivating Deer Activity

As the sunlight fades, deer flock to the clover field. Bucks and does of varying sizes come out to feast on the lush greenery, with some young bucks even sparring in the food plot.

Setting Up for Success

The next day, Leach hangs a treestand on the edge of the same clover field, marking it as an excellent spot for future hunts.

October 7: Optimal Conditions

On October 7, a weather front rolls in, encouraging the deer to be more active. Leach settles into the treestand they prepared the previous day and witnesses another great sit as deer return to feed in the open.
