Kick Off Deer Hunting Season with Preseason Scouting and Preparation on the Family Farm
In today’s video, I journey to the family farm to launch the deer hunting season with essential preseason scouting and preparation. This year, we’re excited to set up three trail cameras for the first time, ensuring we capture valuable insights into deer movement. Additionally, we’re installing a new lock-on stand in one of my favorite locations on the farm, affectionately known as “The Crossroads.”
This strategic stand overlooks a crucial three-way intersection of roads, creating an inside corner adjacent to a large peanut field. Historically, this spot has been incredibly productive. Last season alone, I successfully harvested three deer and encountered over 20 deer during my hunts here. The Crossroads is a prime travel corridor, where mature bucks navigate between bedding areas in the nearby swamp and abundant food sources.
As deer season draws near, it’s critical to gather intel, check for sign, and ensure all gear is ready for opening day. I invite you to join me on this journey as we gear up for another thrilling deer hunting season.
